Atlanta, GA – Alexis Chateau LLC recently hired an abandoned stray as its Goodwill Ambassador.

Shadow replaces former Office Cat, Smokey Chateau. She tragically went missingon November 13, 2016 while founder and managing partner, Alexis Chateau, was away for the weekend on a business trip.

Following their loss, the company altered its clientele focus to include non-profit organizations advocating for animal rights.

The Hunt

Alexis Chateau LLC first began its search for a new Office Cat in mid-December, when Smokey still did not return to resume her position.

The company’s ad reportedly attracted many fine candidates from as far as a hundred miles away. However, AC declined these offers in hopes of finding a black feline.

Founder Alexis Chateau explains:

Black cats have the lowest adoption rates in shelters all around the US, and the highest kill-rates. We wanted to ensure at least one black cat escaped that fate…

This is adorable! I love it. What a great idea, Alexis. I’m sure Shadow is happy about it too. I grew up with a black cat and think they are way underapprieciated. So glad you found another kitty. :]

    1. Thanks Katta! He is very excited. We ordered him some new ties yesterday to get him ready for his role in the office. He has some potential clients to impress!

And I sure am glad to have him. It’s really sad how black cats don’t get as much love as others do.

Aw that’s so cute! My parents took Patch, their black cat to the groomers (his fur gets all knotted up like dreadlocks, go figure) and he came back with the most adorable striped tie. I couldn’t get over it haha. He’s keeping it on too, so he must like it.
Yeah, old superstitions die hard. Also, darker animals can be harder to see in badly lit pounds, I heard that was a factor in problems adopting them out.

      2. Your family seems to have quite a few kitties, and wow. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a cat that needed help with grooming.

One of our business consultants has some extra bow ties he never wears that we’ll get adjusted for Shadow too haha. His wardrobe is about to outdo us all.

Yes, the lighting can be a problem too. He is very difficult to photograph. But they can always ask to see kitty outside the cage. Seems like such a superficial reason not to give an animal a home. I went out of my way to get a Black cat this time around. The foster mom was so confused when I told her that, because of the reputation adopters have of not wanting them.

Same cat haha, although we have had a few. Yeah, me neither! My mom thinks he runs into sticky stuff outside, but after 12 years of this, I sorta doubt that’s the answer haha.
He’s a business cat, kinda like that meme.
Yeah, I never understand that. It was really sweet of you to do that. I’m sure he’s happy about it. :]

      4. Oh, same little troublemaker? I think your mom is just making excuses for that one haha. It could be he’s just really bad at grooming. Some cats are, esp if they didn’t grow up with momma cat and learn to groom. That’s so cool though. A groomed kitty!

Shadow is lucky indeed. He emailed a vegetarian restaurant tonight. They could use some PR help, so let’s see if they decide to work with us.

And yes, he’s quite happy. He’s now made my bed his eternal throne so I guess that’s a testament to how comfy he’s gotten after coming to me as a semi-feral cat. I must be a kitty whisperer! πŸ™‚

Oh she totally is haha. You know, I never thought about that but he was taken from his mom pretty young I think… hmm…
How could they say no when being emailed by a kitten?
Aw yay! That’s awesome. Alexis Chateau, Kitty Whisperer. You should put that on your business card haha. :]

      6. Emailed a kitten? LoL.

Yeah, some states it’s illegal to separate momma and kitten before 8 to 12 weeks. I think Shadow had some momma time. He’s scratch post trained and the volunteer didn’t train him, so he definitely figured that out before he got dumped. Kittens usually learn that from older cats in the house.

I totally should put that on a credit card πŸ™‚
