It’s not Friday — but it’s Halloween — and just this once, I’m prioritising theme above chronology. This gives us the perfect excuse to skip ahead of my travel posts to my very last day in New Hampshire.
Why would I do that? Because that’s the day I witnessed Halloween, Budweiser-style. Here’s what happened.
The Detour
Earlier this month, I travelled to chilly New Hampshire to witness their famous fiery fall foliage.
At the end of my trip, on my way to the airport, my Uber driver asked me what brought me to New Hampshire of all places. Half-asleep and battling allergies, I gave the short answer: I’m a travel blogger.
He glanced at me in the rearview mirror. “You’re a travel blogger?” he said, excitedly. “Have you seen the Budweiser Plant?”
“No, I haven’t,” I admitted. “I didn’t even know one was here.”
“You have to see it,” he insisted. “What time is your flight?” Once I told him, he decided, “Well we’re really early, and it’s along the way. We won’t stay long!”
Next thing I knew, I was being whisked off to see what I expected to be some big industrial beer plant that would no doubt bore me to death with company facts and bragging rights.
Boy, was I wrong.
Breaking In
I was really surprised when we pulled into what looked like a quaint little Vienna-styled village. I couldn’t believe this was the Budweiser Plant in Merrimack.
Unfortunately, it was closed, but when the Uber driver said, “There are horses here,” I jumped right over the gate and started running towards the Clydesdales.
What? You didn’t expect me to just miss out on seeing horses at a beer plant, did you?

Management came out and found us on the property after that video, but realised we weren’t causing any trouble, and let us be.
Halloween in Full Swing
On the way out, I noticed that there were Halloween decorations up at the section closer to the entrance. I asked the Uber driver to stop again, so we could take a look.
I’m glad I did. Budweiser might just be the corporate-kings of Halloween.
And then… Netherworld
While my Halloween adventure began in New Hampshire, it didn’t end there. After all, we’re talking about one of my favourite days of the year. So, my Dad treated me to a haunted house experience — hands down the best one I’ve been to in all my life.
Even the free attractions out front were amazing. From the talking skulls to the zombies, grim reapers, gargoyles, and other gross and beautiful things.
Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take pictures or shoot videos of the inside, but I can tell you, it was really creepy. The fact that actors were inside hiding in corners, behind curtains, and even in the ceiling, definitely added to the suspense!
If you’re in Georgia and you haven’t been to Netherworld, it’s time to change that.
Halloween Party
The only problem I had with Netherworld, is that I wasn’t allowed to wear my costume. So, the following night, I headed out to Midtown to debut my Morticia look. I’ve wanted to spend Halloween as Morticia since Halloween 2015, and finally did it.
Today is the big day, so I’ll be busting out the costume again to rot a few teeth in my neighbourhood.

No I haven’t and for the time being I borrowed my camera to my sister in law. Hers is broken and not being sure wich one to buy she lend mine

Haha — my yard is littered with leaves right now, too. But we didn’t get any beautiful colours as reward for our suffering!

Alexis, thank you for this post! I sometimes miss the riot of color in the North Georgia mountains every fall; and even though your pics are from up north, they remind me of home.
As for Halloween, it’s kind of ruined for me now. My job has involved lots of rotty pumpkins and gourds, and the smell is horrific. At least I got to enjoy it vicariously through you. And you look great in your costume, I love it!
I’ve heard that the North Georgia Mountains have great fall colours. Still nothing in Atlanta so far. Glad I could remind you of home, and pass on some Halloween cheer.
