In 2016, I had the sudden inspiration to write paranormal murder fiction, set in Victorian-era France and England. I had originally only intended to write one short story of about 3000 words or less. But as I continued to write, the story expanded into a full series, totalling nearly 11,000 words.
The Original Story
It was divided into 5 stories, published every Monday morning throughout the month of October. The grand finale was published on October 31st — Halloween.
Originally written under the working title of The Christmas Horror, the characters of the story so personally inspired me, that the series was published as The Moreau Witches, instead.
Your Reactions
I was thrilled to see so many of my usual readers sucked into the tale as it unfolded. Yet, this did nothing to prepare me for the many requests — or perhaps, demands! — to either keep writing the story, or expand it into a full length novel.
After more than a year, I’m finally giving in.
The New Book
I don’t know if Madeleine’s story will continue beyond solving her mother’s alleged murder, but I have now begun to expand the 11,000 words into a novellette. The new book will tell the full story in about 50,000 words or more.
Will I continue the tale beyond the story so many of you have become familiar with? Well, that depends on how well you encourage me when the book comes out. 🤔
Publishing Date
I have a tentative release date set for the end of this year, but please note the word tentative. Writing a book is fairly easy, but bringing it to market is not. Working with independent authors for a living taught me that the hard way.
