People often ask me what it’s like to travel with my parents. My mom and dad are still young enough to be fun, active travel companions. In fact, my parents travelled across America with me, when I moved the RV from Atlanta to Vegas. During that trip, we shared only 160 SF of space. This might sound like a recipe for disaster, but it’s not the smallest space we’ve ever occupied.
In 2018, when we boarded the Carnival Magic together, our room was probably 120 SF. The bedroom was big enough to fit a bed and a bunk. There was nowhere to cook, eat, or hang out. We also had a tiny bathroom and a closet. The good thing about this is that it forced us to get out and see more of the ship and the locations we visited.

I’ve always wanted to try a cruise, what were your thoughts on them overall? Obviously it won’t be an option anytime soon for me.
I like that you can visit multiple countries at a discounted price. I enjoyed the view from the ship as well, especially at sunset. The internet aboard ships is notoriously bad so be ready to disconnect. Buffet is a hit or miss, but overall the food was good. I wouldn’t recommend for solo travel, but it’s a great way for couples and families to vacation together.

I did love cruising. Wonder if that will ever be an option again?
I think it will be! Maybe my next year, we’ll be able to cruise again.
Right? I worry about that too. Taking a cruise has been on my bucket list for a while, and as soon as I’d be in a position to afford it. Poof! Vanishes into thin air.
I think if they resume during the pandemic, they’ll have to rethink some of the shared spaces or put people on curfew so they have a wave of people who have access to resources at different times. Otherwise, the ship gets pretty crowded when everyone is out, especially around lunchtime. I think they’ll bounce back though. Just waiting on time and opportunity!
