So today marks the very first day of NaNoWriMo 2017, and now that the high of Halloween is gone, it’s starting to dawn on me just what I’ve signed up for.
What was I thinking? How am I going to manage 4 blogs for myself, and then 2 for clients, plus all our social media pages, edit my 5-book novel series, work on my on-going fan-fiction project, and do 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo?
But I suppose I was thinking, it was time. That if I really want to do something I love, I have to make time for it. I must have known that merely editing novels would not be enough to quell my fiction-writing needs; and after 4 years of working on the same series, it was time to push myself to venture into something new.
What better way to do it, than with hundreds and thousands of other writers around the world, who will spend November stocking up on coffee and tea, and tapping away nervously at their keyboards, while we check the clock, and the calendar, and the word count?
I have never done NaNoWriMo before in my entire life, but I’m looking forward to being a part of the madness, as it unfolds. One can only watch from the sidelines for so long, before one begins to wonder: could I do this? Well this November, we’ll find out!
Have you signed up for NaNoWriMo 2017? Have you ever participated before? Or are you a n00b, like me? Tell me all about it in the comments below!

I’m doing NaNoWriMo this year and I just got my daily goal done. If this is your first time, my two bits of advice are to first, have fun; and second, do word sprints. I personally follow a few Twitter accounts that host word sprints (especially @NaNoWordSprints) and they’re incredibly helpful. They give you a block of time during which you have to make yourself. It’s a little bit of competition, too. Try to write the most in any given frame of time 🙂
I think I have you on my NaNoWriMo account. I haven’t finished my daily goal yet. I’m a night owl. I get my writing done at those ungodly hours 😂 I’m about 400 words away I think.
Thanks for the tips!
Interesting! I have never heard of NaNoWriMo. I hope you keep us updated.
Oh, you should check it out for next year ^_^ It’s http://www.nanowrimo.org
And thank you! 😊
I am writing about growing up black in America back in the dz÷.
Nice! Is that fiction or an autobiography?
Good luck with your participation!
Thanks Anna!
and here i thought i had a full plate. good luck!
Thank you! I’ll need it!
What will keep you busy this month?
the usual., I have three kids – that’s enough to fill up my day + a few extra hours. But I also have my blog, my book, and I write for a magazine. And i’m blind, so i do everything double the time it takes someone else (but i was slow even before that, so i can’t really blame it on my disability). and we’re picking olives to press too, so i should add that as well.
I’m sorry to hear about the disability! Kudos to you for getting it all done, regardless.
What mind of magazine do you write for? That sounds like fun.
I write for both the ‘writer’s life’ column and the ‘health and well being’ on conscious talk magazine. Occasionally I submit to the food column and once to the international affairs.
It’s a fairly new magazine. Can I paste a link for you here to check my first articles out?
Sure thing! I’d love to see them 😊
Here’s the first one I wrote:

And here’s for the health and well being: https://conscioustalkmag.com/2017/08/owning-my-disability/
Thank you.
That’s amazing that you kept writing and managed never to be discouraged for very long. That’s admirable. I’ve never been through the query process myself, but I gather I’ll be able to handle the rejections after doing sales for my business and dealing with trolls on my blogs 😂
Good luck!
thank you. what kind of publicity do you do?
Hmmm… I’m not sure I understand your question. What do you mean by “kind of publicity”? Like the kind of clients I work with, or what the firm does?
Both, actually. Do you work with authors – indie authors – and what do you do? do you take clients outside the U.S.A? this is probably a more private conversation,, so here’s my e-mail: (removed by administration for user protection) — My book is still under editorial revision, so i’m just looking at my options at the moment. If you’d rather i contact you once things are on track, i’m cool with that.
i understand if you’d rather i didn’t.
I have participated in NaNo the last four years I believe, but usually end up stopping halfway through the month. 😂 So have never finished but I keep trying every year. This year I’m not sure if I will do it as I was just gifted a puppy. 😊 And that little puppy is kicking my butt, I’m not able to get anything done. Because when he naps, I’m finally able to get housework done. Haha!
Awww — sorry you haven’t been able to finish, and that you won’t be doing it this year. On the upside though, a puppy! What did you name him?
Nice entry besides in order to a page in blank is a first step to living it up! , nice blog
hugs from Spain
From Spain! I want to move to your country one day!
And thank you 🙂

Wow, I hope you had nice experiences o al menos buenos momentos 😉😉😉🙈🙈🙈😘😘😘
For the most part haha. One cheated.
interesting and All the best.
Thank you! I need all the well wishes I can get lol
Best of luck!
Thank you! Did you sign up for this year?
I did not. I tried once and then got too busy in subsequent years. Are you planning on keeping us updated though??
Awww, maybe next year then?
I really want to. I’ll try to pop in as often as possible, so you guys can track my madness over time. Probably will just be short posts of how I’m making it through so far.
Thanks for asking!
We shall see! I’ll look forward to see how you’re doing. If anyone can do 50,000 words it’s you; your drive is incredible!
Awww, thank you. 😊 I have a serious aversion to failure, so I’m gonna push real hard! I’ll keep checking in.
Are you working on any writing projects at all during the month?
Good deal! And not unless you count trying to continue blogging on a regular basis, I’ve lagged a bit recently.
I have a steady pace with blogging, but that’s what makes me nervous about NaNoWriMo. That equilibrium is about to be messed with. 😅
Good luck on your writing projects 😊
Interesting!! 🙂
Thank you!
