If you’ve been following my blog for some time, you might have met Buddy before in the comments section. Chances are, you might even already follow his blog. He mostly shares snippets of his life in rural California on a working llama ranch. He does not often specifically state he owns llamas, but one day, he let it slip.
He was sharing that he just caught the first rattlesnakes of the summer season and that they had been close to the llama pens. This immediately caught my attention. I’ve been harassing him to let me pet the llamas since I’ve been in Atlanta, Georgia. Naturally, my llama-petting harassment didn’t stop when I drove my RV across America to California.
Still, I was surprised when Buddy invited me to see the llamas get shorn for the summer. There was no way I was missing that opportunity.
Have you subscribed to my YouTube vlog? I sure hope so! If the embedded video below doesn’t work, you can watch it here.
Those llamas look beautiful.
Did you find out what makes them spit, if they spit at all?
They are, especially Memphis! They didn’t spit at me or each other while I was there.
It’s a defense mechanism. Buddy explains in the video that they don’t like doing it either because it leaves a nasty taste in their mouths too.
Pretty animals!
They really were!
They joy on your face as you walked the llamas was unmistakable!
You gotta love ’em!!
Well, clearly I need to follow Buddy now, because as a Portlander, I get a llot of opportunities to see llamas and just llove llamas! We have two good camps of them here, the Rojo the Llama group and the No Drama Llama fella. I was really jealous last night that one of my friends got a photo op with Caesar – I think he’s from the No Drama Llama folks – on her bike commute home. It’s great to watch them being led through town with their handlers or casually hopping on a MAX train for a ride across the river. Classic Portland weirdness…
Wow! Those llamas sound like they’re living full lives! 😂 I would love to see all that. Maybe I need to add Portland to my itinerary.
Memphis used to be a show llama. You can tell just by looking at her. She’s a beaut! For the most part, though, I think Buddy’s llamas now spend most of their time on the ranch they call home.
This was such a joy to watch xD You and these Llama’s are CUUUTEEEEEEEE. Now I wanna pet one!(respectfully)
LMAO. They are adorable and hilarious.
I just noticed that the first view of my place is of my trash cans!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Buahaha! I didn’t even notice that!
😂😂😂
I didn’t feel harassed. Lol
I’m sorry you had to wake up so early.
Waking up early was worth it! We would have had to get up early to snag an early camping spot anyway. 🙃
😊😊
I love being invited along. Thank you Alexis.
Thank you for joining me! 🙃
Glad you got to see the llamas, and even help to shear them. Nice video 🙂
Thank you! I love how they all had their individual personalities.
